“To see God and to be seen by God. This mutual gazing is a vector for the transmission of knowledge of the nature of the Self, one’s own nature.” Shambhavi, as I read this, I thought of how, according to Attachment Theory, our sense of self, Being, and identity is formed by the mirroring gaze of our caregivers. Without that transmission, or if it is disruptive or disrupted regularly, problems can develop.

Continuing into adulthood with that wound, we may continually miss the fundamental conversation we have with Reality and forget, or never know, that we are That.

Hi Lavinia, this perfectly illustrates something we were talking about in satsang this past Sunday: there are only a few principles operating here. They arc in broad spectrums from the more ordinary to the more expansive--expressing the same principles a little bit differently. Mutual eye gazing at so many levels is the vector for self-recognition. Beautiful reminder.
