Yesterday I heard that in furtherance of a decree by Itamar benGvir that "there shall be no expressions of joy" a 14-year-old West-Banker released in the hostage deal from administrative detention was threatened with re-arrest because his family was too publicly celebrating his return to their arms. At what point, indeed, does the idea of gaslighting no longer apply? At what point do we say the government is doing it to themselves and those they claim to shepherd? I am reminded of the saying that the leadership which abolishes all adventure makes its own abolition the only possible adventure.
