The Times They Are A-changin'

Shambhavi and Charandas offer a cover of Bob Dylan’s song

I attended a Marxist summer day camp in Pennsylvania for a few years when I was a child. Started in the 1930s, Miquon was an experiment in childhood education that eventually spawned a high school. My alma mater.

At camp, we sang songs by Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Pete Seeger. Pete regularly visited and gave concerts for us kids.

When I saw the recent movie, A Complete Unknown, I was hit by a wave of memory and feeling. Music was a huge part of my younger years—all kinds of music—but this music particularly.

And it struck me how differently Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are A-changin’ sounds these days, and how fresh.

So I changed up a few words and got together with a tabla player. Here’s the result. I hope you feel it.

with infinite love,

Shambhavi
