A post from Kindred 108 about spiritual eclecticism, nonduality, animism, and words that sustain our spiritual life by Shambhavi Sarasvati. We're all kindred here.
Concerning non duality, coming from a Vedanta background, everything one sees is illusory, maya. I could not explain that to people, even though I understood the concept myself, but it bothered me. Although I took it like referring to the science going on inside a rock, for instance, it still bothered me. A bunch of atoms bouncing around, so it was not really solid, even if it was perceived by the physical eye and touch as such.
The Trika Shaivism version of non duality does not teach that a mountain is illusory but real.

Really beautiful to see your old notebook.
I always love to hear another Ming story!
